The Clash - London Calling

This album is a 1979 masterpiece that went far beyond classic punk rock, weaving in ska, reggae, rockabilly, and pop. The album sounds raw, aggressive, and amazingly melodic all at once. Photographer Pennie Smith shot the iconic cover image right as bassist Paul Simonon, out of frustration, smashed his Fender Precision Bass on stage. At first she didn't want to use the frame because it was blurry, but the band insisted, and it eventually became one of the most famous album covers in rock history.
