Tricky - Maxinquaye

Maxinquaye was named after Tricky's mother. The album became one of the main trip-hop releases of the 90s, but it's hard to fit into a single genre—here hip-hop, dub, rock, and electronics merge into a completely unique sound. A significant portion of the vocals on the record is performed by Martina Topley-Bird, who was only 15–16 years old at the time of recording. It was her fragile voice combined with Tricky's gloomy manner that created the contrast that became the album's hallmark.

Scenario by OBERTY: evening or night, tightly closed curtains, complete absence of light. The room turns into a closed Bristol basement. Dark romance in its most absolute, underground form.
